‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot to Feature an Inclusive Cast

(Instagram)

Move over Disney Channel; there’s going to be a new Buffy in town.

While we loved Sofia Wylie’s Buffy Driscoll on Disney‘s Andi Mack, no one compares to the OG vampire slayer, Buffy Summers.

With shows that ran through the early 2000s, including Charmed, Queer Eye, and TRL, making their rounds as source material, its only right that that popular seven-season drama, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will also be getting the reboot treatment.

And sometimes, a girl needs to stand alone. #thechosenone @entertainmentweekly

According to The Hollywood Reporter, not only will the show be resurrected, but will also feature an inclusive cast like the CW’s Charmed remake.

The new Buffy, which will be executive produced by the original creator, Joss Whedon, and written by screenwriter Monica Owusu-Breen, will be “richly diverse” with a black actress stepping into the lead role.

Reboots of once favorite shows can be a real hit or miss, but Owusu-Breen assured fans on Twitter that the new series, which is in the early stages of production with no script, actors, or studio, will be more or a sequel than a complete remake.

With the new show, hopefully, Sarah Michelle Geller will reprise her role, or at least make a cameo in the series.
