Storm Reid Joins Ava DuVernay’s ‘Central Park Five’ Series

A Wrinkle in Time‘s Storm Reid is set to join the ever-growing cast of Ava DuVernay’s limited Netflix series Central Park Five.

This isn’t the first time Reid and DuVernay have teamed up as Reid starred in DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time. The two are coming together again for the drama series.

Reid announced the news on her Instagram about the upcoming series. She ended the post, “Thankful to work with an ensemble of amazing actors to tell the story of Anton McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise.”

In 1989 five teenage boys from Harlem NY were wrongfully convicted of raping a white woman. Many years later a serial rapist confessed to the crime and they were exonerated. Now @netflix and @ava are telling their story in a four-part miniseries. Thankful to work with an ensemble of amazing actors to tell the story of Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise. 🖤🙌🏽

Central Park Five will be about the true story of the infamous case in 1989 in which five teenage boys of color (Anton McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise) who were wrongfully convicted of rape. Reid will play Korey Wise’s friend, Lisa.

Along with Reid, Niecy Nash, Aunjanue Ellis, Kylie Bunbury, Marsha Stephanie Blake will join the other cast members Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, John Leguizamo, Felicity Huffman, Jharrel Jerome and Jovan Adepo.

The limited series will be four episodes set to debut on Netflix in 2019.
