Crocs to Close Last Manufacturing Plants

(Instagram)

Is this the end of an era in controversial footwear?

According to their Twitter account, and to the relief of many, no it is not.

On Tuesday, August 7th, Crocs announced the closing of their Mexico manufacturing facility. This leaves but one facility, however, their Italian location will also be closing its doors in the near future.

Still sounds like the end of the rubber shoe brand, right? Well, not according to a tweet from the brand in response to a distraught fan (and no doubt Croc-wearer).

Twitter user kayygriff wrote, “@Crocs can you please explain to me how you could justify diminishing our identities? without crocs we are nothing don’t do this to us baby oh NO,” to which Crocs swiftly responded, “FALSE ALARM: We aren’t going anywhere 😎.”

It’s hard to tell what this all means. Their marketing team is busy snuffing the fears of its followers, but their facilities are still closing down in the very near future. With their revenue trending above 3rd quarter estimates and a positively anticipated 4th quarter on the horizon, we are truly confused as to what the future holds for Crocs and their fans.

But the one thing we know for sure is that this news is going to have your frumpy uncle, and your friend that wears the shoes ‘ironically,’ stocking up for fear of the Croc-pocalypse.
