While we wait for the film to hit theatres in early 2020, here’s a sneak peak of the actress that will take on the title role.
Meet Liu Yifei:

She is a Chinese born actress and model. She has been an ambassador for brands like Dior but has remained relatively under the radar. After beating out nearly 1,000 other actresses in a year-long search, Yifei finally won the coveted role. She will star alongside Donnie Yen, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An and former co-star Jet Li.
Niki Caro will direct the film from a script written by Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa, Elizabeth Martin, and Amanda Silver. Caro teased some pictures of the film’s shooting locations on Instagram.
Mulan is set to be filmed in China and New Zealand and will premiere on March 27, 2020.
