Mindy Kaling Recreates Beyonce’s Vogue Cover
Mindy Kaling posted a comedic recreation of Beyoncé’s latest Vogue cover, inspiring a handful of beautiful women to share their versions as well.
Beyoncé dominated the cover of Vogue’s recent September issue, sporting an all-natural look—minimal makeup, a bohemian white frock, and an exuberant flower crown. The issue included an interview of the singer getting real and raw about body issues, motherhood, racial representation, and struggles with ethnicity. Kaling shared a stunning recreation of the cover with her Twitter and Instagram following.

The comedian’s caption references a line from her long-running sitcom, The Mindy Project, in which her character creates a fierce alter ego, “Beyoncé Pad Thai.” While the post was comedic, it inspired a chain of women to post their own recreations of the cover, radiating the same confidence and beauty that the two stars emit in theirs.
Kaling’s recreation draws an increased amount of attention to the important meaning attached to the Vogue issue: the significance behind presence of diverse women in magazines, and all the topics addressed within the interview that bring women together.
