Jada Pinkett Smith Confirms ‘Girls Trip’ Sequel
Good news to the fans of Girls Trip, Jada Pinkett Smith confirmed a sequel to the movie on her Instagram.
The Matrix actress captioned the announcement with a few star emoji’s and we are so excited that the flossy posse is heading back to our screens.
Girls Trip became the highest R-Rated comedy in 2017. What’s amazing is that the movie had a budget of $19 million and surpassed that with $31 million on the opening weekend. Not many people expected the movie to be such a success but the film proved otherwise. There’s this false idea that in Hollywood, Black led movies do not sell. But, with movies like Black Panther and A Wrinkle in Time, it has been proven otherwise. Hollywood needs to let go of that stigma and allow Black creative minds to venture out with their ideas. Diversity in the arts matters.
What made Girls Trip so successful is that it was a movie about Black women who were unapologetic and they just wanted to have fun. It’s so refreshing for so many Black women to see themselves in these characters.
