Chloe Grace Moretz Stars in ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’
Chloë Grace Moretz’s performance in her newest film, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, is a groundbreaking conversation-starter for the LGBTQ community.
The film, written and directed by Desiree Akhavan, hit select theaters on August 3rd. Moretz leads as Cameron, a teenager sent to a gay conversion therapy center after being caught with a girl in the back-seat of her car on prom night.
The plot, set in 1993, follows Cameron’s struggle with staying true to herself in the face of intolerance, alongside her fellow sinner sidekicks, Jane (Sasha Lane) and Adam (Forrest Goodluck).
The movie was adapted from the coming-of-age novel of the same name, written by Emily M. Danforth. Both forms of the story shine light on a common but rarely acknowledged issue among the LGBTQ community. Moretz’s heartfelt performance shares a raw, honest story about loving yourself for who you are; one that is bound to start necessary conversations.
