‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Is Set for a Sequel
Crazy Rich Asians dropped in theaters hardly a week ago, on August 15th, and the response to the film has already been overwhelming.
The romantic-comedy follows the love story of Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) and Nick Young (Henry Golding), as Rachel accompanies her long-term boyfriend to his best friend’s wedding in his hometown, Singapore. Upon arrival, Rachel learns that Henry’s family is extremely wealthy, and must deem herself worthy to his socialite relatives, and overprotective mother.
The film is said to be so well-received due to its entirely Asian-American cast, raking in $35 million within its first opening weekend.

The movie was adapted from a contemporary novel of the same name and the first book in a series written by Kevin Kwan. The possibility of continuing on with the series was hinted at during the film’s mid-credits scene, and the speculation was finally confirmed. The development of the film’s sequel has received the go-ahead and will be bringing in the same director, Jon M. Chu.
With the overwhelmingly positive reviews and the outstanding cast, the Crazy Rich Asians sequel is bound to be just as groundbreaking as the first.
