Lana Del Rey Cancels Scheduled Performance in Israel
Lana Del Rey was scheduled to perform at Israel for the upcoming Meteor Festival on September 7th, 2018.
Del Rey’s appearance at the Meteor Festival would have been her performance debut in Israel. She was previously set to perform at Israel back in 2014 but canceled her appearance back then as well.
Del Rey made the announcement about the cancelation on social media on August 31st, 2018. In her statement, Del Rey wrote that she had wanted to perform for fans in both Israel and Palestine and “treat all of [her] fans equally” Del Rey also said she could not visit both Israel and Palestine because of time constraints. Therefore she had decided to postpone her performance in Israel until she was able to find a way to visit both countries.

Del Rey had previously made a statement on her Instagram on August 21st, 2018 about performing in Israel after receiving backlash earlier from the news of performing in Israel. She had stated that she would not only visit Israel and perform there but also visit Palestine as well. She had looked forward to “meeting both Palestinian and Israeli children and playing music for everyone.”
Del Rey was most recently featured in the singer Cat Power’s song Woman for Cat Power’s upcoming album Wanderer. You can watch the music video below:
