Issa Rae Makes First Appearance on Ellen – Talks ‘Insecure’+ Emmy Awards

Star and creator of Insecure, Issa Rae, sits down with Ellen before the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Award Show.

After taking a shot in order to calm the nerves before the Emmys, Rae talks about how she would love to be a talk show host that is a combination of Ellen, Oprah Winfrey, and Diddy. DeGeneres then shows her a creation of what that would look like, in a hilarious photo.

Once the nerves were calm and the ice was broken, Issa Rae went on to discuss her show Insecure and her inspiration behind the creation of it.
“It’s based off of me and my friends. It’s based off of the conversations we’ve had, some of the relationships we’ve had,” Rae says.
Rae goes on to describe how the broke part of her life was what she wanted to show with her character Issa Dee.
