Emma Gonzalez has been selected as one of Variety Magazine’s ‘Power of Women’ honorees for her activism and advocacy toward gun control.

The 18-year-old recently graduated from Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, only four months after surviving the tragic school shooting. After experiencing the horrific event, the teen decided to use her voice to speak against gun violence and shine a light on the importance of gun control.

Gonzalez helped to organize March for Our Lives, a student-led gun violence protest, and co-founded Never Again MSD, a committee dedicated to political change. Gonzalez’s heroic actions have earned the acknowledgement of Variety Magazine.

Annually, Variety Magazine hosts a ‘Power of Women’ event in Los Angeles, honoring women in the entertainment industry who have made a notably philanthropic impact. Gonzalez was selected alongside Tiffany Haddish, Regina King, Natalie Portman, and Lena Waithe.

Gonzalez is clearly well-deserving of the award, as she continues to speak up for change.
