Joey King Shaves Head for New Role

Joey King revealed her bold new look for her role in an upcoming Hulu true-crime series, The Act.

The Kissing Booth actress will be portraying the role of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a young girl who murdered her mother after being forced to live falsely as a cancer patient, despite being perfectly healthy. King shared an Instagram video of a hairdresser buzzing her brunette locks, transforming her into Gypsy.

The 19-year-old remained calm and confident under the clippers. In an exclusive Allure interview, King revealed shaving her head was no biggie; she had done it twice before for her previous roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Wish I Was Here.

Not only is the new look no-big-deal, but King described it to be fun, freeing, and empowering. “I know this sounds crazy, and not a lot of people will agree with me, but I think every woman should shave her head at least once in her life,” King said.
