Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Cancelled After Two Seasons
The Marvel Television series starring Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick will not return for a third season.
Iron Fist was the fourth Marvel Television series to stream on Netflix. Current Marvel Television shows on Netflix include Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Punisher.
Deadline was the first to report the story.
The cancellation of Iron Fist trails after the news that Disney had announced that it was developing its own online streaming service similar to those like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. The upcoming Disney video streaming service will feature previous Disney films and Marvel films as well as new original films and television series.
Already it was announced that a Star Wars television series produced by Iron Man director Jon Favreau would air exclusively on Disney’s streaming service.
It was also announced that two separate television series for Marvel Cinematic Universe characters Loki and Scarlet Witch will be developed.
A shared statement by both Marvel Television and Netflix was released following the cancellation of the show.
“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew, and showrunners.”
“We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership, we’ve shared on this series.” the statement continued. “While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”
