In 2017, YouTuber Hannah Forcier went viral after using the wrong product on her bleached blonde hair caused it to fall out.

As a result, Forcier was forced to shave her head to salvage the remainder of her hair. In subsequent posts, she admitted to losing self-confidence due to the sudden change in her appearance, often times finding it difficult to look in the mirror.

It was Tuesday October 10th at 3:30pm when my world changed. I went from this bubbly, fun bleach blonde to a timid, self loathing broken girl. I didn’t feel like me anymore, which is hard for some people to understand. When I posted my video I was afraid but everyone responded with such love it made me realize how lucky I am to have you, all of you, in my life. I am feeling more confident by the day. One year after the incident, the influencer decided to commemorate its anniversary by shaving her head once more. In a powerful YouTube video, Forcier is surrounded by her supportive friends as she uses a razor to buzz off her curly brown locks.

1 year ago I made a mistake that made me hate myself. I refused to look at myself in the mirror with a shaved head because I thought I was ugly and convinced myself that I would never like myself again. I learned so much this past year about what true beauty really means. Today I shaved my head for everyone who struggles with self love, for everyone who doesn’t like themselves because I HAVE BEEN THERE and I feel your pain but take it from me, you are NOT UGLY.
