Bell believes the typical story-line of Disney princess classics can promote sexual assault and the wrong ideas about consent. This premise is also prominent in Sleeping Beauty. The mother-of-two is careful to teach her daughters that it is not okay to kiss somebody while they are asleep.
Bell isn’t the first star to raise concerns about this issue. Kiera Knightly has additionally spoken out against the lack of feminism in princess stories.
During her interview on The Ellen Show, she revealed her daughter is banned from watching Cinderella, because the princess “waits around all day for a rich guy to rescue her.”
Shout-out to Kristen and Kiera for promoting independence and equality for females, no matter what age.
