Netflix Cancels ‘American Vandal’ After Two Seasons

The massive streaming service, Netflix, has decided to end another one of its own original series American Vandal after two seasons on the air.

“We’re very grateful to the creators, writers, cast, and crew for bringing their innovative comedy to Netflix and to the fans and critics who embraced its unique and unconventional humor,” Netflix said in an official statement about the series’ cancellation.

American Vandal was a television series that mocked and spoofed true crime documentaries television series such as Netflix’s own documentary series Making a Murderer and the podcast series Serial. The main stars of the series were Tyler Alvarez and Griffin Gluck.

Instead of investigating murders and absolving wrongfully accused criminals, however, the plot within the series revolves around two high school students Peter Maldonado (Alvarez) and Sam Ecklund (Gluck) who try to absolve wrongfully accused high school students who were framed for pranks that were committed against schools.

The cancellation of American Vandal follows a recent trend by Netflix in which the company decided to cancel its other previous running television series such as Marvel Television’s Iron Fist and Luke Cage.

However, there is a bit of hope. According to Vulture, American Vandal’s producer CBS Studios have received multiple offers from other outlets to continue the series for a possible third season.
