Detroit Blows Salon Celebrates Natural Hair

This blow dry bar is using beauty to make a difference.

Business partners Nia Batts and Katy Cockrel first came up with the concept for Detroit Blows out of frustration that women of color frequently get upcharged at the average hair salon. In celebration of textured hair, they have successfully created an intersectional beauty space celebrating all different hair types.

Detroit Blows prides itself on utilizing products that follow non-toxicity standards to make sure their clients’ hair stays healthy and strong.

More than just helping women feel good about themselves, the salon is also involved in local philanthropic efforts. $1 from every service and 25% of all retail sales are donated to various businesses helping female entrepreneurs. One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush is an investor in the company and is helping spread the word about the fantastic work accomplished by the salon.
