Netflix to Adapt Roald Dahl Stories like ‘Matilda’ into Animated Series
Netflix announced they will be adapting Roald Dahl’s popular stories like Matilda, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, and more into animated series.
In a press release, Netflix announced that they will be bringing Roald Dahl’s popular stories to life in a new way. In the release, Netflix said they planned to “bring together the highest quality creative, visual, and writing teams to extend the stories in this first-of-its-kind slate of premium animated event series and specials for audiences of all ages and for families to enjoy together.” Netflix and Roald Dahl Story Company will be expanding the universe created by Dahl, while still keeping the spirit and tone of his stories.
Roald Dahl’s widow, Felicity Dahl said “This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company. Roald would, I know, be thrilled.” Netflix has taken on a list of titles including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, George’s Marvellous Medicine, and many more.
Production will begin sometime in 2019.
