Sarah Hyland Opens up About Second Kidney Transplant
Sarah Hyland has opened up to Self magazine about her struggles with kidney dysplasia.Hyland had her first transplant in 2012 and has revealed in her interview that she underwent her second in September of 2017. In her tearful interview, Hyland opens up about going into rejection two years ago after her father donated his kidney for her first transplant. The second time around her brother acted as the donor for her surgery.
The Modern Family star voiced her concerns about getting an organ from another family member after the rejection saying, ” When a family member gives you a second chance at life and it fails it almost feels like it’s your fault. It’s not. But it does.” Despite all of the difficulties Sarah has faced along with her numerous surgeries, she and her brother are both doing well after the transplant.
