Janet Jackson to Be Inducted into the Rock + Roll Hall of Fame
Janet Jackson has been named a 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced their list of inductees on Thursday, calling Jackson a “pop icon immediately identifiable on a first name basis.” The organization also wrote, “she explored social issues, themes of empowerment and self-confidence, and influenced generations with her stylized music videos with innovative choreography.”
In order to be eligible for nomination, individual artists and bands must have contributed 25 years of music prior to nomination. This is the musician’s third time being nominated for this honor, earning nominations in 2016, 2017 and 2019. Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, The Cure, Def Leppard, Roxy Music and The Zombies are also set to be inducted.
Jackson took to social media to celebrate the honor, thanking her fans for all of the love and support.
