Kate Hudson Raises Her Daughter With a “Genderless” Approach
Hollywood star Kate Hudson clarifies a comment she made about raising her daughter Rani, “genderless” in a recent interview she did with AOL.
Watch below as she quoted, talking about the method she chooses to raise all her children, “[Having a daughter] doesn’t really change my approach, but there’s definitely a difference. I think you just raise your kids individually regardless — like a genderless [approach]. We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as.”
Of course, using the term “genderless” has attracted some controversy, causing her to have to address her comments.
In an Instagram post, she shared the simplicity of her approach as a way of tackling the discomforts of this controversial topic. In her opinion, it isn’t necessarily more difficult to raise boys over girls or girls over boys in comparison of gender, because she raises all her children as individuals. She prides her own experiences in her youth, growing up with boys, and being “a tomboy in a spinning dress”. Hudson reflects that as she excitedly waits to discover how each of her children decides for themselves, exactly how they want to grow as people, rather than as a gender stereotype.
She concludes her interview by saying, “We’re sort of balancing out the masculine and the feminine.” She shows the world how exemplary she is as a mother by so gracefully tackling the rising issue of gender inequality in our society.
