Tessa Thompson Challenges Hollywood to Work with More Female Directors

The Creed actress and the “Time’s Up” movement are challenging Hollywood to hire more female directors.

The Men In Black International actress is using her platform to stand up for the female voices in Hollywood. Tessa Thompson is working with the Times Up movement to challenge Hollywood to make somewhat of an effort to hire female directors.

These past few years, we have seen women in Hollywood showing us how it is done. Look at Patty Jenkins who has much success with the Wonder Woman (2017). Patty Jenkins is the only female director to direct a film with a budget of over $150 million.

Tessa talked about the 4 percent challenge while at the Sundance Film Festival, where she asked fellow actors and producers to work with more women directors for the next 18 months.

The Thor actress posted a screenshot of her speech from the Time’s Up Twitter.

“I will double the number of women and POC journalists covering the films I have coming out this year—one and April and June—and beyond. #TIMESUPX2. Hollywood family, who is with me?” Tessa wrote in her Instagram captions.

So far there has been great responses from Hollywood. You can see Time’s Up Twitter, to see who has accepted the challenge.
