‘Sweetener’ Wins Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys
Though “God is a Woman” was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance, it was Grande’s summer album Sweetener that won her a Grammy… only she wasn’t there to receive it!
Ariana Grande’s album Sweetener won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2019 Grammys, making it her first win. She beat out Kelly Clarkson’s Meaning of Life, P!nk’s Beautiful Trauma, Taylor Swift’s Reputation, and Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello’s self-titled albums. Way to go, Ari! However, the singer wasn’t there to receive her award. She was supposed to perform her new single “7 rings”, but the producers of the Grammys would not allow it, so she pulled out. Fortunately for us, we still got her reaction on her win via Twitter.
i know i’m not there tonight (trust, i tried and still truly wished it had worked out tbh) and i know i said i try not to put too much weight into these things …. but fuck ……. 🥺 this is wild and beautiful. thank you so much.

She even posted a picture to her Instagram of her in the dress she was going to wear.
