Lady Gaga’s major accessory at this year’s Oscars is to die for, but once you learn the story behind it you’ll love it even more.The star went all out with her look for the Oscars this year by pairing the 128.54 carat, cushion cut “Tiffany Diamond” necklace with her stunning, black Alexander McQueen gown.
This 141-year-old diamond is worth over $30 million, and has only been worn three times since its discovery in 1877. You may recognize the beauty from when Audrey Hepburn wore it in promotional photos for Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961.
Reed Krakoff, Tiffany & Co. chief artistic officer, agreed — sharing that he was “thrilled that she will be wearing the legendary Tiffany Diamond on the awards show red carpet for the first time since it was discovered 141 years ago.”
It’s safe to say that Gaga had a pretty memorable night; the star not only wore of the largest diamonds in the world, she also won the award for best original song for “Shallow” from A Star is Born. The star shined just as bright as the necklace during her beautiful performance with Bradley Cooper.
