Watch J.Cole’s New Music Video for ‘Middle Child’
The KOD rapper’s newest video takes digs at the music industry and society.
J.Cole released the music video for his single “Middle Child” from the forthcoming Dreamville Records compilation album Revenge of The Dreamers III. The video is directed by rapper and all-around creative Mez. The song comes after his 2018 hit album ‘KOD’ and doesn’t disappoint. The video has tons of memorable scenes like J.Cole riding around in a shopping cart at a grocery store and relaxing in a cabin with three Soundcloud Rappers heads mounted on the wall and a gold plate reading “Your Favorite Rapper”. It also includes both overt and subtle messages about the current state of rap, race, and society in general.
Since its release in January, “Middle Child” has become J.Cole’s highest charting single. The song is J.Cole reflecting on what it’s like being the “middle child”, sandwiched between two very different generations of rappers. The video is mirroring the song’s success and has already received over 7 million views in just two days. You can catch J.Cole along with many other artists at the Dreamville Festival this April.
