Rupaul’s Drag Race Winner Aquaria Attends Met Gala
RuPaul Drag Race reigning Queen, Aquaria, was the first drag queen to attend the Met Gala.
As one of the hardest working drag queen in the New York nightlife, Aquaria did not hesitate to make history in the city that set her career. According to Paper Magazine, Aquaria is the first ever drag queen to walk the Met Gala red carpet and be seated next to Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour.
The performer wore a black ribbon gown by John Galliano with black fishnets underneath. Her wig was done by Joey George while her rhinestone gloves were made by Garo Sparo. Aquaria told E! News that her gloves were inspired by an Instagram post of a rhinestoned hand. Her gloves were the icing for her look as it gave the illusion of jewels growing from her hands.
“This is already exciting enough but I’m very excited to see eat some fabulous food, see some fabulous shows, meet fabulous guest and pretty much everything,” Aquaria said.
On Twitter, she posted how grateful she was for the support and the luck she feels for being able to experience a once in a lifetime moment that should be shared with other drag queens.
