Jameela Jamil Wants to Include the Deaf Community in Enjoying Her Videos and We Love It
We love the inclusivity she’s advocating for.
The Good Place‘s Jameela Jamil is a well-known advocate for inclusivity and body positivity. She tries to be as real as possible with her fans and always strives to include others. Now, she’s striving to include the deaf community by adding captions to her videos from now on. She posted a video with captions stating that “one of [her] followers on Instagram told [her] about this app…called Cliptomatic” which automatically captions videos. She emphasized that it is always important for her to include everyone and that sometimes she may not always have the capacity to do so but that she is always trying and improving. We love that Jameela is hearing her fans out regarding what she could do better and that she always addresses her mistakes while stating how she plans to move forward positively.

Cliptomatic. I had to speak extra clearly but it was pretty good! and very worth it. ❤️
The deaf community can often be disregarded when it comes to social media, and it is definitely important for celebrities to use app likes the one Jameela used to ensure that no one feels left out of the conversation, especially ones started by Jameela regarding body positivity. The app Cliptomatic has also been used by Queer Eye‘s Karamo Brown and US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in an effort to include everyone with hearing impairments. We love that Jameela has joined this effort. We certainly hope that other celebrities begin to adopt it as well and that we can start a larger conversation around more inclusivity.
