Check Out Diplo’s Rendition of ‘Old Town Road’
Putting his spin on the hot song of the hour, Diplo added an energetic and heart-racing beat to the country/hip-hop crossover “Old Town Road.”
“Old Town Road” was revolutionary in the world of genre crossover. We do not ever hear country mix with Hip Hop, and it is likely that no one thought the two would ever mix well. That is why the incredible success of Lil Nas’s “Old Town Road” was so surprising. The song originally charted on both the country and Hip Hop/R&B Billboard charts but was then removed from the country chart because it was determined that it did not contain enough elements of country music to truly fit in that category.
However, after country music legend, Billy Ray Cyrus jumped on the song there was no question of its viability in the country realm. The song has now been on the Billboard hot 100 for three weeks, and it doesn’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon. This is especially true now that Diplo has gotten his hands on the track. The DJ’sdriving upbeat undertone added new danceability to the song that wasn’t previously there. His remix is really fun and absolutely worth a listen.
