Selena Gomez Designs Bikini to Cover Kidney Transplant Surgery Scar
The singer/actress/Lupus survivor created a capsule collection with Krahs Swim, including a bikini especially signed to conceal her kidney transplant scar.
To celebrate the launch of her friend Theresa Mingus’ new swimwear company, Selena Gomez designed three fiery red swimsuits for the brand. One of them is a high-waisted two piece with a very special purpose.
“The design I did, one of them, it was the high-waisted one with the belt. I’ve had a kidney transplant and I like bathing suits that kind of cover where that’s been and make me feel comfortable,” Gomez explained in a YouTube video discussing the swimsuit collection.
Gomez has been very candid with her chronic struggle with Lupus, including her 2017 kidney transplant due to complications with the illness. She revealed in the video that Krahs Swimwear founder and close friend Theresa Mingus was a great source of emotional support during that difficult time.
“I just didn’t think I could get through some of the hardest points in my life if it wasn’t for you,” she added.
Krahs Swim launches on May 2 and will include the Selena x Krahs capsule collection.
