Anthony Anderson to Star in Netflix Film ‘Beats’
Black-ish Anthony Anderson will star in Netflix’s new original film, Beats. A story about an agoraphobic hip-hop prodigy (Khalil Everage) and a disgraced former music manager turned high school security guard (Anderson) cross paths in Chicago’s South Side before the two help each other face the demons of their past. While Everage is a Chicago native, other stars such as Uzo Aduba will be switching lanes as she takes on the role of his character’s mother. The film will also star Emayatzy Crinealdi (The Red Lines ) and will be directed by Chris Robinson with executive producer Bob Teitel (Soul Food). The movie was filmed in Chicago last summer along with their other two projects, Easy and The Last Summer.

Rise above the noise. BEATS on Netflix June 19th. Link in bio for full trailer! 🎧 #BEATSonNetflix
The main cast will also include Dreezy, Dave East and Paul Walter Hauser. The trailer looks great and is worth a watch, even if just for the music alone. Why is this project so important? Because Netflix will be giving music producers a chance to shine instead of the performer.

Beats will start streaming June 19th exclusively on Netflix.
