HBO’s New Series ‘Chernobyl’ Will Have You Hooked
In its newest series, HBO breaks down the Chernobyl disaster piece by piece.
There is no better network to take on one of the most well-known disasters of the twentieth century than HBO. Its new series Chernobyl takes the disaster head on and tells it from the perspective of every single group involved. We span from the executives to the firefighters to the citizens of Prypyat.
I learned a lot this #ChernobylHBO episode:
Professor Legasov taught me how a nuclear reactor works, and Emily Watson’s character taught me how to have a phone call in periodic table code. pic.twitter.com/MEIP6HVpcN— HBO (@HBO) May 14, 2019
Truly, this show needs to be commended for the amount of detail.
You feel every minute of the disaster and the grief, frustration, and fear are all palpable. The costumes, set dressing, script and character design are utterly phenomenal. Being able to effectively tell a true story and keep the audience in suspense is a fantastic skill that HBO has in the bag.
