The Best Dressed of the 2019 Tony Awards
If you missed out on the Tony Awards, here are a few of the best looks of the night.
The 2019 Tony Awards was full of cheers, crying, and clapping, but not everything is about the awards—it’s about the fashion too. Here are a few looks that stole the night too.
BILLY PORTER
Billy Porter is an American Broadway performer and actor on the hit show Pose. He wore a suit that according to The Hollywood Reporter, is intentionally supposed to be modeled after the female reproductive organs. Labeled as the “gender-fluid evening suit” or the “uterus suit”, it was created by New York label Celestino Couture. It featured 30,000 Swarovski crystals and recycled fabric from Porter’s time in Broadway show, Kinky Boots.
CYNTHIA ERIVO
Cynthia Erivo is a UK actress and singer who is already a Tony Award recipient. Erivo looked radiant in a white gown that was rocking white feathers tinted with gold around the top half. A high slit ran up the side of her dress to reveal a thigh tattoo. Chris Gelinas Studio was behind her fashion masterpiece.
KAREN OLIVIO
Karen Olivio is an American Broadway and television actress who won a Tony Award in 2009 for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Anita in a revival of West Side Story. At the 2019 Tony Awards, Olivio was walking the carpet in a sleek black tux with a deep cleavage cut. The suit also featured a lace cape on the pants and lacy see-through material on the sides of the jacket.
We can’t wait to see what fashionable outfits the next Tony Awards will bring.
