Lizzo Opens up About Struggling with Depression
Our beloved Lizzo recently spoke out about what it is like dealing with depression. In a series of social media posts, she told the world in a video that she was “depressed and there is no one [she] can talk to because there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Life hurts.”
But the wave of support that followed later encouraged her to also say, “I learned in the last 24hrs that being emotionally honest can save your life. Reaching out may be hard but as soon as I did it, I was immediately covered in love.” Lizzo went on to talk about what her triggers are, naming rejection and inadequacy. She told her followers that emotional honesty is a way to transform those triggers into constructive healing.
Lizzo’s brave openness is an inspirational reminder to not hold in the things that bring us down. Even when we feel our moments of darkest despair and aloneness, there is always still love in the world. And it is that bravery, that courage to speak out that often invites that love back into our hearts.
Lizzo bounced back up into the light with a photo of herself and the caption, “Ain’t nothin sexier than a new day.”
