The Music from ‘Stranger Things’ Is Getting a Change
The artists behind the popular Stranger Things score is changing things up in season 3.
Stranger Things is a hit TV show on Netflix that involves mystery, superpowers, kids, and amazing music. The music from the show is part of a genre called synth-wave. Composers Kyle Dixon and Micheal Stein are behind the 80s inspired scores of the show, including the widely loved theme song of the show.
The creators of Stranger Things, The Duffer Brothers, found Stein and Dixon from their experimental work in their musical duo called SURVIVE. Fast forward to now, the two have earned two Grammy nominations and an Emmy award for their work for the Netflix show.
But according to Billboard, the playful synth-heavy scores fans are used to on the show will be undergoing a little change. Stein and Dixon told Billboard their music has been shaped a lot by the child mentality of the cast members, but now that the cast members are teenagers and are going through even more darker changes the composers thought the music in the show should reflect the same thing.
