Prince William Supports Whatever Identity His Children Choose
At a recent event with an LGBTQ+ charity in London, the Albert Kennedy Trust, Prince William was asked how he would feel if any of his children grew up to identify as gay or lesbian. The Guardian reported that when a gay reporter asked Prince William about his stance on his children’s personal sexual identity choices, he responded that he would be “absolutely fine” with it. He elaborated that the real concern is the way LGBTQ+ people are treated, saying “I fully support whatever decision they make, but it does worry me from a parent point of view how many barriers, hateful words, persecution and discrimination that might come. That’s the bit that really troubles me a little bit…That’s for all of us to try and help correct, to put that in the past and not come back to that sort of stuff.”
The Duke officially opened @aktcharity‘s new services centre in Hoxton, which will host drop-in sessions for young people and grow its youth engagement offering.

Prince William said that he has been discussing this possibility with his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, and ways of educating their children so that they can “make sure they were prepared.”

Prince William’s message serves as an important reminder to support future generations’ choices and respect human beings for their unique self-identities. The Royal Family has been very active in promoting equality and human rights, including LGBTQ+ awareness and activism, and is continuing to do so.
