HBO Renews Drama Series ‘Euphoria’ for a Second Season
On July 11, 2019, Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming announced that HBO shall renew Euphoria for a second season.
“Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya. We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series,” said Orsi. “We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit.” Euphoria stands as HBO’s youngest show on its digital platforms. The psychedelic drama brought a series high during its premiere telecast on Sunday at 10 p.m. and continues to rack up support and fans every week on HBO’s platforms. The series premiere night brought over 5.5 million viewers to HBO’s platforms.
The eight-episode season currently airs new episodes on Sunday nights after its June 16th kick off date. It stars Zendaya, who acts as head of a diverse cast that portrays high schoolers struggling with “drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship”. Sam Levinson wrote and created the series, and also directs the first five episodes. Euphoria honestly shows the anxious world teenagers must live in where it feels as if someone could record or share anything you do. Colorful parties accompanied by drugs become the usual as the sensory stimulations they have grown accustomed to surround them. The cast for the first season of Euphoria includes Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith, and Sydney Sweeney.

Zendaya plays 17-year-old Rue Bennet who had just got out of jail and wants to find enough purpose to stay clean and figure out her future. She soon meets the new girl in town, Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer), who moved there because of her parents’ divorce, and they both want to find a place to belong and take solace in one another. Make sure to keep up with the show and follow the characters as they navigate through tricky ordeals.
My mother delivered me in Wiesbaden, Germany. I have an African-American father and German mother. I lived there until I reached around age 8 and we moved to Saint Louis, MO. I now attend Truman State University in Kirksville, MO aiming to complete an English major with a Film Studies minor since I enjoy thinking of creative concepts and analyzing film.
