Lizzo Puts out Video for ‘Tempo’ Featuring Missy Elliot
Lizzo has released a video with Missy Elliot for their song “Tempo”.
The video seems influenced by Missy’s known crazy and entertaining dance-heavy music videos. The video begins at “Lizzo’s Diner” and shows some male fans admiring her inside. She then moves outside with her crew of dancers to deliver some twerking and fast moves.
The song talks about fast songs with a tempo letting thick girls have the most fun, while slow songs best suit the smaller women with less to move, and the choreography mimics this theme. The curvier dancers remain on the parking lot dancing to the upbeat tempo, while the smaller women bounce in the air to the slower rhythm of a car rocking beneath them. The interesting visuals make for a jarring effect, especially when Missy Elliot jumps out of a car hood to deliver her verse.

My mother delivered me in Wiesbaden, Germany. I have an African-American father and German mother. I lived there until I reached around age 8 and we moved to Saint Louis, MO. I now attend Truman State University in Kirksville, MO aiming to complete an English major with a Film Studies minor since I enjoy thinking of creative concepts and analyzing film.
