Anne Hathaway Graces the Cover of ‘Allure’ for Its September Issue
In the interview with Allure, Anne Hathaway talks about her childhood and her family growing up. The Hathaway house was a musical household, she shared, but they mostly listened to musical theater with the occasional Aretha Franklin. Anne was always singing and she told Allure that when she was in middle school one of her friends sat her down and told her that she needed to talk to her about her singing. Anne then stopped singing around the halls but continued to do so in her spare time.
Throughout the interview, Ashley Ford, who wrote the article, and Anne are learning how to make sushi. Anne is a sushi lover but hates all the extra things that come with ordering out like the plastic containers, napkins and more. She tries to be cautious when it comes to the environment. They made sushi with rice on the outside, with rice on the inside and hand-rolled sushi. When they sat down to eat it Anne took out her camera and took a picture because if you did not capture it on camera did you really have it?
They go on to talk about Anne’s new movie that is coming to Netflix called, The Last Thing He Wanted. She told Allure that she was asked to gain 20 pounds for her character, Elena McMahon, who is an investigative journalist. Anne then started to talk about when she was 16 she was told not to gain weight. Anne said, “At 16 years old, it was ‘Congratulations, you have the part. I’m not saying you need to lose weight. I’m just saying don’t gain weight.’ Which of course means you need to lose weight.” She then talked about how Hollywood is making changing and becoming more body inclusive but still has a way to go because being thin is still the “normal” expectation.
