Everything You Need to Know About the ‘Little Women’ Trailer
The Little Women trailer was released last week and we can’t contain our excitement.
The film’s director, Greta Gerwig, is making strides in the film industry after the success of her 2017 film Ladybird. Like Ladybird, Little Women will star the talented Saoirse Ronan as Jo March and will include another Ladybird graduate, Timothée Chalamet. Joining the two on-screen are stars Emma Watson, Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, and Florence Pugh. The trailer includes an array of emotional and inspiring moments from the movie, guaranteed to make you cry pretty much even after the tenth time of watching it.

The film is another adaptation of the 1868 novel by Louisa May Alcott. The coming-of-age story follows a group of four sisters managing life in the post-civil war era America. From what is seen in the trailer, the girls are learning to balance careers, aspirations, and love with their everyday lives. Most importantly, the film will tackle gender stereotypes about love and marriage through Ronan’s character Jo, an ambitious writer who wants to be known for more than being someone’s wife.

Little Women is another stride towards an increase in female roles in Hollywood. Greta Gerwig was able to connect to audiences through her previous film Ladybird, which proved that a female-led movie can be successful without playing into cliches. Her next project should be no different, with audiences already counting down the days to Little Women’s December premiere. Fans everywhere are excited to see their favorite actress join together in a display of female empowerment in what is already expected to be an Oscar-nominated film.
