Missy Elliott Set to Receive Video Vanguard Honor at the VMA’s
The MTV VMA’s, hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco will air on Monday, Aug. 26. and include performances from hip hop pioneer, Missy Elliott.
Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott will be taking home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, which will be shown live from New Jersey on Monday. The award was created in 1984 and since been given to icons like Beyonce, Madonna and more. Missy Elliott has been an incredible music talent from songwriting to unmatched performances.
She is the only female wrapper to have earned six studio albums certified to go platinum. She also stands as the first female hip-hop artist to be put into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. MTV will be partnering with Pepsi to commemorate her achievements she has brought over the years at the awards show.
Missy came out with her hit single “Work It” in 2002 and then came “Lose Control” in 2005. Many people and popular media outlets are excited to see Missy being acknowledged for her talents.
Fans and other businesses are ecstatic that Missy will finally be honored with the Video Vanguard Award.
