RBG Beat Cancer Again

CNN

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has just completed three weeks of radiation therapy in New York, and is doing amazing.

The treatment was targeted at a cancerous tumor found on Ginsberg’s pancreas. She was treated for three weeks, starting on August 5th, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The Supreme Court disclosed the nature of her treatment and condition earlier today, as well as the exciting news that there is no evidence of the disease detected anywhere else in her body.

This is not the first time RBG has conquered a medical problem. At 86 years old, she has been treated for several kinds of cancers, but has remained victorious over them all. Last December, she underwent surgical treatment for lung cancer. Despite all of this, she keeps up a healthy fitness regime, and shocked many viewers by sharing her weight training routine in CNN’s documentary RBG

In an interview with NPR in July, RBG showed the right amount of strength and sass when talking about her various illnesses. “There was a senator, I think it was after my pancreatic cancer, who announced with great glee that I was going to be dead within six months…that senator, whose name I have forgotten, is now himself dead, and I am very much alive.” That statement remains very true a couple months later, as she was still very active during her treatment. She was seen shopping, working, and even attending a showing of Fiddler on the Roof at the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene.

RBG’s resilience and strength is an inspiration to everyone. She has handled her illnesses the same as she has handled her politics, with vitality and grace. We can only hope that she continues to show us her courage for many more years.
