The 1975 Releases Second Single from Upcoming Album
The 1975 have released their next single, titled “People,” from their upcoming album Notes On a Conditional Form.
The track takes a completely different road from the band’s usual sound; most people probably know The 1975 from their groovy guitar-pop hits like “Girls” and “Somebody Else.” “People,” however, is loud, fast, and desperate. The lyrics, which are more shouted than sang by vocalist Matty Healy, speak to the anxieties of younger generations who have become technologically-sedated to the tragedies of the earth and its people. Although the track is far edgier than their usual sound, the band pulls it off well, producing a British punk rock anthem for the frightened modern youth.

A music video for the song has also been released on YouTube, which consists of a box encasing the band as they play the song, surrounded by flashing lights and flickers of bits of the lyrics displayed on the walls. In this video, Matty Healy resembles a young Marylin Manson, with straightened, slicked hair and pale make-up, adding to the angsty vibe of the music.

Notes On a Conditional Form will be The 1975’s fourth studio album. It is set for release on Feb. 21, 2020.
