Here’s Who Won a Moon Person at the 2019 MTV VMA’s
The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards aired live on Aug. 26 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande both had 10 nominations for awards, with Billie Eilish following at 9, and Lil Nas X at 8. There were a total of 25 award categories.
Taylor Swift’s song “You Need to Calm Down,” which she performed at the ceremony along with “Lover,” won both the awards for Video of the Year and Video for Good. The music video for “ME!” won the Best Visual Effects award (visual effects by Loris Paillier and Lucas Salton for BUF VFX).
Billie Eilish won the award for Best New Artist, Best Push Artist of the Year, and Best Editing for her music video for “bad guy.”
Ariana Grande was the third artist to win three awards: Artist of the Year, Best Art Direction for the “7 rings” music video (art direction by John Richoux), and the Song of the Summer award with Social House and their song “Boyfriend.”

Three artists won two separate awards during the night. BTS won Best Group, and Best K-Pop Song with “Boy With Luv” [ft. Halsey]. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s song “Señorita” won Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography (cinematography by Scott Cunningham). ROSALIA and J Balvin’s “Con Altura” [ft. El Guincho] won Best Latin Song and Best Choreography (choreography by Charm La’Donna).

Best Pop Song went to Jonas Brothers “Sucker,” Best Hip-Hop to Cardi B’s “Money,” Best R&B to Normani’s “Waves” [ft. 6LACK], Best Dance to The Chainsmokers’ “Call You Mine” [ft. Bebe Rexha], and Best Rock went to Panic! at the Disco’s “High Hopes.” Best Power Anthem went to Megan Thee Stallion and “Hot Girl Summer” [ft. Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign]. Song of the Year went to Lil Nas X for his hit single “Old Town Road (Remix)” [ft. Billy Ray Cyrus].
The Fashion Trailblazer award went to Marc Jacobs, and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award went to Missy Elliot.
Overall, I think we can call this years VMA’s a success.
