Cara Delevingne Opens Up in ‘Elle UK’ Interview

Elle UK

In an interview published on Monday, the actress and model opened up about her industry, love life, and how to stay sane in the world.

The interview, titled “The Many Faces of Cara Delevingne”, shows the world a more vulnerable, laidback face of the celebrity as it all takes place under cozy blankets in her hotel room. Rather than conversing over a fancy dinner, Delevingne insisted that they lay in bed and order room service, as she had just returned from Karl Lagerfield’s service and didn’t feel like going out.

After discussing her entrance into the fashion world, and the effect of modeling on her acting skills, Delevingne revealed how she stays grounded through it all. “Every morning and night: yoga and meditation, even for five minutes…I sleep with my phone on airplane mode and, before I turn it on, I lay and breathe for five minutes.” A routine of stress-reducing activities is a necessity in an industry where you are constantly on public display. After being asked whether or not she agrees that a job in acting and modeling negatively affects a person’s self-esteem, she states “Modelling is more surface, and acting is a bit deeper – either way, you’re getting rejected at some point. Which is something I’ve spent a lot of time working on.”

The actress went on to discuss the importance of finding hobbies that are therapeutic (hers include writing music and poetry) as well as why she keeps her love life private. Her relationship with Ahsley Benson has recently been confirmed, yet the two keep their love life out of social media. “…it’s sacred. I get why people care so much, and I don’t want to be so secretive that people think I’m ashamed of anything. But I’ve never been in a relationship where things are so public, or where I posted pictures of someone else”.

Cara Delevingne is now keeping up with appearances for her new show, Carnival Row, which can be streamed on Amazon Prime now.
