Liu Yong X Rishikensh Gives Streetwear an Unapologetic Look at NYFW
Designer Liu Yong collaborated with Rishikensh on their Spring/Summer 2020 capsule, supplying a whole new meaning to athleisure.
Liu Yong, one of the top fashion designers in China, and Rishikensh, the innovative brand that fuses Yoga culture, street culture, and “punk style”, has rocked the fashion world yet again with this Spring/Summer 2020 capsule. The collection’s color pallet ranged for black and grey and exuded tie-dye centric, bold colors such as neon blue, orange, and green.
Yong and Rishikensh are redefining street style with custom jumpsuits, layered overcoats, hoodies, and clear raincoats.
The tie-dye process used by the designer is deemed less “traditional” than other brands. “We first make each look and then tie-dye the completed piece, using organic dye colors; where as many tie-dye the fabric before constructing the look.” the designer explained. Yong even used black dye for a unique, monochromatic approach.
The Liu Yong X Rishikensh showcase was not only inclusive with gender fluidity but also age. Kid’s rocked the runway with looks encouraged by the women’s and menswear.
Liu Yong X Rishikensh supplied a whole new meaning to athleisure with confidence and swag. The designer wanted to evoke the feeling of athleisure with a sense of slow fashion, by distinguishing the apparel design and production process. To describe his streetwear, Yong illustrated, “Whether it’s yoga or dancing, you can do so in any of the designs – with a concentrated attitude. We use the softest cotton and other recycled textiles so that our customer feels comfortable and conscious.”
