Whoppi Goldberg Will Be Starring in a New Movie
Whoopi Goldberg announces that she will be playing Mother Abigail in Stephen King’s The Stand.
Stephen King’s The Stand is another great classic horror novel that is written by the popular author and a fan favorite by fans. The Stand will be another addition to Stephen King’s work that will be adapted into a live representation. Stephen King’s IT and It Chapter Two are also classic horror novels with about 198 million sales in the box office and positive reviews. The Stand will be a 10 episode series available on CBS All Access’s streaming platform. Whoopi Goldberg will play Mother Abigal, who is a prophet who receives visions from God and helps guide survivors of the superflu.

CBS also announced that not only Whoopi will be cast as Mother Abigal in the series, but Alexander Skarsgård will play Randall Flagg. The cast also includes Jovan Adepo, who will play Larry Underwood in the series, Owen Teague, who plays Harold Lauder, Brad William Henke, who will portray Tom Cullen, and Daniel Sunjata, who will play Cobb. Fans are already excited about the announcement of the cast on Twitter.

Although The Stand is making its debut with Whoopi Goldberg playing Abigal, her character was once played by Ruby Dee, in 1994, during the four-part miniseries TV adaptation of the book. This will be the second adaptation of the book, but Whoppi Goldberg is very excited to play Abigal. During The View Whoppi Goldberg discusses how she’s been wanting to play Abigal if Stephen King decided to remake and was excited to get the part. Although some viewers might think the remake of the series will be the same, Stephen King announced during the show he will be changing some parts such as the ending in the series.
