Mery Playa Debuts Colorful Spring/Summer 2020 Swimwear Line at NYFW
Mery Playa debuted their Spring/Summer Swimwear line at NYFW on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The show started off with a live performance by Argentinian singer-songwriter Mery Racauchi before the models took the runway showing off a variety of cute and fashion-forward swimwear looks. The first model (pictured above) walked out and posed while bathed in a glow of soft, blue light before the lights came on and she made her way down the runway. Soon, the runway was filled with models of different heights and builds, each confidently strutting down the runway in a variety of different swimsuits, flowing light-weight robes, and casual footwear.
The color palette for the collection featured white and a mix of pastel and bright shades of pink, blue, yellow, and green. There were both one and two-piece suits, ranging from simple, timeless designs to trendier, strappy designs.
Every model had cool, pastel unfilled winged eyeliner, giving them the edgiest negative space effect. It combined perfectly with the collection’s color palette.
The show was full of fun and had a “women uplifting other women” vibe all throughout.
The show was also a showcase of inclusion and diversity, as many of the models walking deviated from the expected body type of being tall and very slim. There were petite, average and tall models, with body types ranging from slim to curvy, including one plus size model in a stunning white one-piece suit. It is refreshing to know that more brands are becoming aware that more people, and women, in particular, want to see a variety of body types being represented in the fashion industry.
