It looks like Insecure star Issa Rae is crossing over to the film world with a possible Set It Off remake.
Issa Rae is known for creating and starring in the hit television show, Insecure. There are now reports that the actress is gearing up for a whole new project, a Set It Off remake. The original film was directed by F. Gary Gary starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise. The plot of this 90s film is based on a group of female friends who attempt to escape the hardships of life by becoming bank robbers. The film premiered in theaters over 20 years ago. More recently, reports have surfaced that Rae is remaking the film at New Line Cinemas in Los Angeles, California.

Check the words of encouragement Dale Pollock, one of the original producers, sent Issa Rae’s way.

Issa Rae is not only producing this female-heist remake but may also be starring in it. We can’t help but ask ourselves, “Which character will Rae bring back to life? Will it be Frankie, who was originally a bank teller and got fired for something she had no control over? Tisean, a single mother who was fighting to keep her child? Cleo, the hardcore car thief or Stony, who had to deal with the recent loss of her baby brother?”.

We can’t wait to see who will join Issa Rae in the remake of one of the most iconic films in movie history.
