Actress and filmmaker Natalie Portman is set to reprise her role as Dr. Jane Foster in the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder.  Portman’s absence in Thor: Ragnarok was certainly noticed by many fans. When the actress was asked in a recent interview with ET on her absence, she stated: “Obviously, I wasn’t written into [Thor: Ragnarok] because of where it took place. It wasn’t really on Earth, and my character is on Earth.”

Later in the interview when asked how the award-winning actress felt about returning to the enterprise, she stated: “They came to me with the idea and said, ‘We have this idea for you that was a story-line in some of the comics where Jane becomes Lady Thor,’ and I was like, ‘This is very exciting!'”

Marvel first announced Portman’s return to the series at San Diego Comic-Con this year, displaying her picking up Thor’s hammer to please the crowd. At this time we do not have an exact date of release, but the third standalone film is set to premiere some time in 2020.

We are certainly all excited to see a woman on the thrown, and cannot wait to see what Portman does with this new powerful role.
