Lili Reinhart Switches Gears and Dives into Poetry

Lili Reinhart, an actress in the hit series Riverdale, builds a new love of hers by writing her first poetry collection, Swimming Lessons. 

Reinhart has been venturing away from only playing Betty in Riverdale and appearing in the latest hit movie, Hustlers. She is set to release a book of poems explaining the majority of her work over the years and more to come.

One year ago, I decided I wanted to share my poetry with the world. It’s scary to reveal a part of myself that I don’t often show, but I like to consider this book as more of a story rather than a confession of thought. Strangers, songs, films, fictional characters, love in various forms, and of course my own experiences were my inspiration throughout the creation of Swimming Lessons. The book speaks on behalf of young love, anxiety, and dealing with the realness of fame. Disturbing yet inspirational. We can see Reinhart’s inspirations shine through with her writing in the book. Swimming Lessons isn’t Reinhart’s first merry-go-round when it comes to writing poetry. For her boyfriend, Cole Sprouse, she wrote on Instagram a short poem in which summed up her love for the young actor.

I tried to find a poem that I could send to you. Because my words were failing me. But I searched and found nothing that did you justice. All of these love poems can’t get it right.
